Why this icon Serolsar Lake, kept clean — the legend goes — by a little bird. Source: thestatesman.com
Hike from Jalori to Serolsar, the lake a bird keeps clean.
The story
A still summer morning at Serolsar Lake: a traveller who walked through the forest from Jalori Pass rests on a walking stick at the shore, firs stand at the water's edge, mist lies along the ridges and a little bird hovers over the lake with a leaf.
Why this picture
Serolsar is a small lake at about 3,100 m in the oak, deodar and rhododendron forest above Shoja, a short, easy walk from Jalori Pass, whose road opens again in spring. A local legend says a little bird keeps the lake clean, picking up every leaf that falls on it.
The sky wears a faint Khovar, from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand.
The motion
The little bird's wing beats as it hovers; three blue birds cross the misty sky; the sun's rays turn; the shore's stalks sway; flowers glint in the grass. A 16-second loop.
Colour
Shoja takes Valley Blue #4F87C7, one of the three Valleys colours — with its icon in white on it.
