Why this icon South Indian filter coffee, served in a steel tumbler and dabara. Source: en.wikipedia.org
Filter coffee, gigs and gardens. Bangalore runs on all three.
The story
Morning at Lalbagh: at a filter-coffee cart by the garden, the vendor pulls coffee from a height while a traveller waits with a tumbler; the Glass House stands among jacaranda and silk-cotton behind.
Why this picture
Bangalore runs on South Indian filter coffee, poured between a steel tumbler and its dabara from a height to cool and froth it. Lalbagh, the 240-acre botanical garden at the heart of the 'garden city', keeps its 1889 Glass House among century-old trees; jacaranda flower violet in spring and the red silk-cotton blooms on bare branches. Black kites circle over the city and rose-ringed parakeets fly past in noisy flocks.

The sky wears Khovar, from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand.
The motion
The coffee falls from the tumbler to the dabara; steam curls off the kettle; kites circle; a flock of parakeets crosses the sky; clouds drift; the trees sway; the sun's rays turn. A 16-second loop.
Colour
Bangalore takes Apricot #FFCE7B, one of the three Flowers colours — with its icon in Steel Grey on it.
