Kudle to Om to Half Moon to Paradise. On foot.
The story
Morning on the clifftop trail: a traveller walks the reddish earth path over the headland, past cashew trees and a cow dozing in their shade; across the water the next headland's laterite cliff rises under its scrub above a palm-backed cove of pale sand, its shacks and fishing boats drawn up on the beach, while a ferry putters along the coast and a dolphin arcs out of the sea below.
Why this picture
Gokarna's beach trek links Kudle, Om, Half Moon and Paradise beaches by a path of reddish earth over rocky, scrub-covered headlands whose sea cliffs are laterite; only the trail or a small wooden boat reaches the far coves, where palm-thatch shacks stand behind crescents of sand and boats are drawn up on the beach. Cashew trees line the way, cows doze in the shade and Brahminy kites hang on the sea breeze; humpback dolphins surface off the cliffs in the early morning. October to February keeps the sea calm and the path dry.

The motion
The sea's lines run and the waves come in; the ferry crosses; a dolphin arcs out of the sea and dives; a kite wheels; the traveller walks; the palms and trees sway; the cow flicks an ear; the sun's rays turn. A 16-second loop.
Colour
Gokarna takes Lagoon #34C2D7, one of the three Waters colours — with its icon in Steel Grey on it.
