Why this icon Kalpa faces the Kinner Kailash range and its rock pinnacle, above apple orchards. Source: en.wikipedia.org
Wake facing Kinner Kailash. Watch its rock change colour.
The story
An October dawn at Kalpa: the sun comes up behind Kinner Kailash and its rock pillar, mist lies in the Sutlej gorge, and a traveller among the apple trees on the orchard terrace above the village photographs it.
Why this picture
Kalpa (2,960 m) faces the Kinner Kailash range (6,050 m) across the deep Sutlej gorge; on its shoulder stands a slender natural rock pillar about 24 m tall. Its stone-and-timber houses have slate roofs, and in autumn the terraced orchards around the village hang with red apples among deodars and chilgoza pines.

The sky wears Gond scales, from Madhya Pradesh.
The motion
Three yellow-billed blue magpies fly across the whole sky on their long tails; the sun's rays turn; the apple trees and the deodar sway. A 16-second loop.
Colour
Kalpa takes Blush #F6ADCD, one of the three Valleys colours — with its icon in Steel Grey on it.
